Jacks River JT Jump

Obviously, this video is a little out of order (I just discovered how to put videos on my blog). This is from my second Jacks River Falls trip of the summer a couple months ago (which I have not written about on this blog). The video is JT jumping off the rock in between the two falls.

Ocoee Rafting Trip/Drue's Cabin

I have been rafting no less than a dozen times in my life but this trip topped them all. The weekend began Friday night when JT, Booker, The Pelf and I arrived at Drue's cabin in Blue Ridge. Pelf had surprised us with a gift; a bb gun that he had just purchased for the trip. Of course Mother Goose (Don) was indulging in the typical Budweisers and Marlboro's starting upon arrival at 4 that afternoon. Mothergoose, Muff, Mumbles (Chad) and Drue were already there as we arrived and Kyle, Tabetha, and Blake in just behind us. This was already starting to look like a promising crowd. We break into the Milwaukees Best Light (which was $12.71 for a 30 pack at the Bi Lo in Elijay) to get the night started. Beer pong, shooting the bb gun, telling stories about carrollton and our college days and catching up were the core activities. McNeal and Holli arrive a little later as we are good and buzzed. Drue's Cabin is bad ass by the way. It has a huge screened in porch on the midd...

Jacks River Falls

My first trip to Jacks River Falls was with a buddy of mine, bmorris. bmorris is the same person who bought the Mountain Hardware pack on a whim (but for a steal) on the way to StoneDoor, courtesy of Allison and Marjorie at Mountain Outfitters in Monteagle TN (that will be another blog eventually). We originally planned on bringing a couple girls with us on this trip but for various reasons that fell through. We changed our route accordingly since we did not have females with us. We hiked in from the East Cowpen Trail. To get here take 575N through Blue Ridge, left at the McDonalds on to Hwy 5, then about 3-4 miles take a left on to Old Hwy 2. The road turns into a dirt/gravel road and you remain on that for at least 20 minutes. Parking will be on the right (cant remember the number of the parking lot). The East Cowpen Trail is pretty challenging with little picturesque views unfortunately. I believed it was about 8 miles, then we go...
